Obituary for David Brown

David Leslie Brown 1934-2017

David Leslie Brown, 83, passed away on December 20, 2017 at Albany Medical Center. David was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on April 12, 1934, a son of the late Clarence and Martha Brown. David was a graduate of Sauquoit Schools and proudly served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany where he met an married his wife, Rosemarie on December 15, 1956.
Subsequent to his honorable discharge from the Army, David was employed by Utica Drop Forge, ARA Services and Reilly’s Dairy of Sauquoit.
David is survived by his two sons and daughter-in-law, Steven of Sauquoit and Kenneth and Kathi of Cassville, his daughter, Deborah and Wendy of Lincoln, Nebraska, his daughter in law; Becky of Glenns Falls, NY, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his sister Jean Shaffer of Sharpsville, PA. and sisters in law, Ursula and John Bird of Memphis, TN., Olivia and Heinz Bornmann of Phillipsburg, Germany, Lilo Schwilk of Esslingen, Germany and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Rosemarie in 2006, his brother Clarence in 2012, his son James Leslie Brown in 2017 and his daughter in law Carole in 2013.
“Dave” was always willing to help people and with his special sense of humor he was always welcomed by all the people whose lives he touched. We thank you all for embracing him so dearly. Dave will miss the monthly breakfast gatherings he enjoyed so much with his classmates.
To honor David’s wishes there will be no calling hours.
A private graveside service will be scheduled at the family’s convenience.
Dave was always proud of his service to his country as part of the 77th Ordinance Company of the U.S. Army. Donations in his name may be made to your Veterans’charity of choice.
Arrangements are with the Smith Funeral Home, 3022 Oneida St. Sauquoit.
