Timothy J. Clive 1946 -2018
Timothy J. Clive, 71, passed away on February 17, 2018 in the comfort of his home with his loving family at his side. He was born on October 21, 1946 in Utica, NY, a son of the late Robert and Anna O’Dell Clive.
He was a graduate of Waterville schools and furthered his education at M.V.C.C. While at M.V.C.C., Tim played basketball and holds the record for most points scored in one game during the pre 3 point era.
On May 8, 1971, he and Linda Belowich were united in marriage in St. Anthony of Padua
Church in Chadwicks. Together they enjoyed a 26 year union that was filled with unconditional love and devotion for each other until her passing on July 7, 1997.
Tim’s working career included being the purchaser at the Presbyterian Home, Project Coordinator and Estimator with Buck Construction and later as property manager at Brandegee Apartments.
He also substituted at Sauquoit Valley Central School and was involved in coaching and refereeing for over 47 years. “Coach” was especially known for his girls basketball teams who won two league titles and his girls soccer teams with whom he won numerous section III titles.
His players not only learned a lot as athletes, but also learned a lot about life.
Tim was a devout member of St. Patrick’s-St. Anthony’s Church in Chadwicks.
He is survived by his four sons and daughters in law; Sean and Jennifer Clive, Michael and Lindsey Clive, Andrew and Melissa Clive and Devin and Alicia Clive, his son-in-law; Matthew Sica, 12 adored grandchildren; Austin Keida-Cardillo, Emma Clive, Maggie Clive, Landon Clive, Biddie Clive, Morgan Sica, Ella Clive, Seamus Clive, Eoin Clive, Wyatt Lints, Jerome Clive, Arya Lints, and Kian Clive. He is also survived by his brother; George Clive and many nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.
He was predeceased by his beloved daughter; Kari Clive-Sica on December 24, 2017 and his 7 brothers and sisters.
Tim’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 22 at 11:00 at St. Patrick’s-St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Chadwicks. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Clayville in the spring.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 3-7 at the Smith Funeral Home, 3022 Oneida St. Sauquoit.
Please consider donations directly to the family to establish a scholarship in Tim, Kari and Linda’s names and to defray expenses. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
His family would like to thank Cristy Gilman, Edwards Ambulance Service, the staff at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare and Dr. Sikder for all that they did for Tim during his illness.
They would also like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers and to all of the girls on his soccer and basketball teams who gave him so much joy over the years.
Sean, Mike, Andrew and Devin want to personally thank their wives for all of the loving care they gave to their father.
