Kathryn Wollaber Goppert, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 20, 2018.
Kay was born April 8, 1923 in Herkimer, the daughter of Lora & Grant Wollaber
On August 1, 1952 Kay married John (Jack) Goppert, a loving union of 32 years until his death in 1984.
Kay worked for many years at Remington Rand in Illion and later retired as a teacher’s aide from New Hartford Central School.
Kay was an active member of the New Hartford United Methodist Church Quilters. She also volunteered for many years at St. Luke’s Hospital and the Adirondack Scenic Railway. Kay was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the New Hartford American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.
Kay had a special love of nature & the outdoors and enjoyed many memorable adventures with her beloved daughter Kim.
Kay was predeceased by her parents, husband, and brother Ralph Wollaber.
Kay is survived by her daughter Kim E. Goppert (Alan Bushnell), cousins Judy Schledorn & Jody Laub, and many dear friends, especially Jean Bender, Bertha Lawson & Regina Paoni, whose loving friendships allowed Kay to remain active and reside at her home until December.
The family extends their sincere and heartfelt thanks to Drs. Kalil, Kokot, Kaul, Fleischer, Tisch, Gale & their staffs for their compassionate care of Mom over the years.
A celebration of Kay’s life with take place at 1:00 p.m. on April 28, 2018 at the Smith Funeral Home, 3022 Oneida St., Sauquoit, N.Y. Private interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
