Francis R. "Ray"  Perkins
Francis R. “Ray” Perkins 1945-2017

Francis R. “Ray” Perkins, 72, passed away on July 26, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. He was born in Utica on July 1, 1945 to the late Myron and Irene Irwin Perkins and received his education in Chadwicks High School.
Ray served with the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam conflict aboard the U.S.S. Canberra and in 1968 was united in marriage with Laura Dellenger.
Prior to his retirement he was employed as a furnace operator with Special Metals in New Hartford.
Ray was a member of Post 1376 of the American Legion in New Hartford.
He also enjoyed hockey and golf and was active in the league at Westmoreland Golf Club.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will forever remain in the hearts of his entire family; his devoted and loving wife of 49 years, Laura, his daughters; Lisa Perkins Mosher and her significant other, Jonathan Robson and Judy and her husband, James Anthony, his grandchildren; Joshua Carter, Michael Mosher, James Anthony II and Samantha Anthony, his sisters; Betty Simmons and Faye Taylor and his canine companion; Blue.
He was predeceased by his brother Everett Perkins.
Ray’s funeral service will be held on Monday, July 31 at 10:00 at the Smith Funeral Home, 3022 Oneida St. Sauquoit. Interment will be in Stockbridge Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-5 at the funeral home.
