Loretta H. O’Connor 1927-2018
Clinton

Loretta H. O’Connor, 90, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2018 in the comfort of her home. She was born on December 30, 1927 in Chadwicks, NY, a daughter of the late Karol and Antonina Grabowski Smolka and was a graduate of Chadwicks High School.
On April 24, 1948 she was united in marriage with Richard O’Connor in St. Anthony of Padua Church in Chadwicks.
After her children were grown, Loretta drove school bus for New Hartford schools for many years.
She was a faithful member of St. Thomas Church in New Hartford.
Loretta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will forever be in the hearts of her family; her devoted husband of 70 years, Richard, her daughter and son in law; Maureen and Ted Rosado, her sons and daughters in law; John and Janine O’Connor, Bill O’Connor and Terry and Halah O’Connor, her daughter in law; Christine O’Connor, her grandchildren; Tricia and Bob Hoyle, Kelly and David Greef, Keri O’Connor, Kristi O’Connor, Justin Pope, Ryan Pope and Joshua O’Connor, her great-grandchildren; Logan Greef, Alex Hoyle and Lauren Hoyle, two sisters in law; Beverly Smolka and Clara Smolka and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sons; James O’Connor, Richard “Butch” O’Connor and her infant son; Gary O’Connor as well as her brothers; Matt, Joseph, George, Bernard and John Smolka and her sisters; Mary Smolka, Caroline Sharo and Sister Mary Karol Smolka.
Loretta’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 21 at 11:00 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 150 Clinton Rd., New Hartford. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 1-3 at the Smith Funeral Home, 3022 Oneida St. Sauquoit.
